Motutunga is an atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago. It is 15 km long and
14 km wide.
Another name: Adventure
Location: 17°04′S 144°17′W. It is located 17 km to the east of
Tahanea Atoll.
Area: 1.4 km² (land) and 126 km² (lagoon)
Population: Uninhabited.

History

August 1773 – The atoll
was sighted by James Cook. He named it Adventure,
after the name of his own ship.

November 1774 – The atoll
was sighted by Spanish navigator Domingo de Boenechea.
