Taenga Atoll
Geography
Taenga is an atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago. It is 27 km long and 11 km wide.
Other names: Taunga-hara, Holts
Location: 16°21′S 143°07′W. It is located 32 km to the northeast of Makemo Atoll and 27 km to the northwest of Nihiru Atoll.
Area: 20 km² (land) and 140 km² (lagoon)
Population: 124 (2012)
Largest settlement: Henuparea

History
10 March 1803 - John Buyers discovered the atoll for Europe. He named it Holts Island.
1820 – The atoll was rediscovered by Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen.
1845 – Inhabitants of the atoll became Mormons.
